Today we had another oral test with our invented characters, which always proves interesting. This time the subject was a crisis in the apartment building, which we decided in advance would be a thief.

First up, were two guys who said that the thief was a friend of Sarah's (who's character is a ladies man), and that he stole one of the resident's snakes because of the financial crisis and snakes are worth a lot of money.

Then a group of three girls got up, who had previously decided that one of our neighbors was a problem because he cooked with a lot of onions and garlic and it made the whole building reek. So this time, while discussing the thief, one girl stated that a bunch of her onions had been stolen, and another girl said hers were too and that there were dishes left in the sink, so they surmised that the thief was the neighbor who liked to cook with onions. This was also due to the economic crisis, since we learned that Parisians used to eat lots of onion soup since it's quite cheap. The other girl in the group, who had previously found a snake in her bathroom, said that the snake was now stolen.

This all became quite confusing after that, but to summarize, let me just say that at some point, the girl who had the snake in her bathroom got accused of eating snakes, then accused of eating snakes with onion soup and sauce, one guy who claimed he was one vacation got accused of being the thief and that the vacation was just an alibi, the person who runs the apartment said she saw someone carrying stuff like TVs out of the building but thought it was just a new neighbor moving in, though he was carrying stuff OUT and not IN. At this point, I accused her of being stupid, especially after she said she saw him carrying my dog out of the apartment. It was the only thing of mine that got stolen, since I'm poor and had nothing else to steal. So we went off to the police office to give a description of the guy she saw.

Between dogs and snakes being stolen, people eating snakes (with sauce, nonetheless, this was emphasized), stealing onions, then making onion soup, it made for a rowdy class and disgruntled neighbors, which should prove interesting next week when the theme for our last oral test of the quarter is a party in the apartment.
