Amongst the business of summer, we managed to find time for several roadtrips. My house, Jon's house, and Portland! Needed to get in some quality sibling boding time you know. So off we trekked, somewhat happier than our last time in Portland (when my car got broken into). We stayed the first night at Jon's friend's house and went to church with his family, and after an incredibly tasty meal which was hard to tear ourselves away from, we headed into inner Portland to meet Kenneth and Adam. After a bit of discussion, we decided the Japanese Gardens would be just the thing to do. Kenneth and Adam had member passes, so Jon and I got in for free! They were lovely and peaceful and a nice way to spend the afternoon. We wandered around a bit and then met up with Candice and Colin and Candice's friend Liz at a fancy pizza place. Great fun was had, and soon the night slipped away. We made plans, however, to meet up the next morning to go berry picking! Out at Sauvie Island, they have lovely blueberries just waiting to be picked and eaten! Or in our case, picked and put in a wedding cake! They were slightly picked
over, but Jon and I managed to nab 2 1/2 pounds worth before we stretched out in the grass and could pick blueberries no more. We cruised the local market and got some awesome rosemary cheddar cheese and other essentials before checking out Candice's new apartment and playing a few games of banagrams. It was a good weekend.
