Final Preparations...

With a change this big coming up, much preparation is naturally required. Serious stuff like making an apointment in Yakima to get our fingerprints taken, applications and paying for visas, and making sure our final transcripts for Walla Walla get sent to York. All this is very important. But there are also fun preparations too!


For instance, the day after the bridal shower, we had a massive yard sale. Now while this might not sound like a lot of fun to some people, and granted it was quite a bit of work, but we had lots of helpers, including Leah, Candice, and especially our mothers from out of town who were extremely helpful (and mine happens to be a garage sale pro). We spent some time Saturday night gathering things, and then Sunday morning it began. We said we were starting at nine but as soon as we set the first item out people were already stopping. at 7:45 AM. We were still hauling stuff from Jon's apartment, my apartment, and both our mother's cars. It was maddness! We were basically selling anything and everything we could possibly do without for the next two weeks and couldn't take with us next year. So...we basically emptied out our apartments. It was a hot and tiring day, but amazingly we made almost $1,000 in that afternoon! Awesome! Between that, wedding money, selling my car, my history scholarship, help from family and loans, we are finally starting to feel better about our financial situation.


Other fun (though admittedly bittersweet) preparations are spending as much time with friends as possible. Abby came up from Tri Cities for an afternoon and we did some wedding stuff, then went to Rooks park where she rollerbladed and I longboarded. Or rather, most of the time we ate lots of blackberries and every once in a while rollerbladed :) It was fun. Then we met up with Jon for dinner at Olive (YUM), and stupidly decided to do a progressive dessert to celebrate Abby's birthday. We shared something at Olive, Bright's Candy Shop, and the Patisserie, which is what finally did us in, though the gelato was so good. So much sugar. I think we went into a slight sugar coma after that... We've also had fun evenings hanging out at Leah's new apartment and over at Jared and Damies. Oh ! We even babysat little Ryann for the first time! She's 9 months, so I was a little nervous, but all went well and it was pretty fun. We've also decided this week to hit all our favorite places one last time, and do all the things in Walla Walla we wanted to but hadn't gotten around to yet. Today is our last lunch at His Garden. Sigh. Where I said "yes" to Jon for the first time (to be his girlfriend).



Saving one of the most exciting pieces of news for last, WE HAVE AN APARTMENT IN YORK!!! YEA!!! As you can see from the picture, it is a cute typically British apartment building. We have a one bedroom flat, FULLY FURNISHED!, and with our own private patio!! So excited! It's only 1/2 a mile from the University and a mile fom the Adventist Church (which is incidentally how we managed to get the apartment). Knowing we have a lovely place to live next year makes Jon and I very happy :)
