Last Sabbath we youth led a visitor’s/youth day at the York SDA Church. It was a bit tricky to plan, as the last time we were all together was over a month ago when we began seriously and definitively planning it at the social we hosted. Still, we kept in touch via emails and messages as best we could and continued discussing and planning. Unfortunately, the number of people we invited and who promised to come did not turn out to be nearly as numerous as it once appeared. We did have a few, however, including one of my friends. It was her first time coming to church since she was a little kid, she said, and was quite different than she remembered or expected. (In a good way). For Sabbath School, I co-led a discussion with a small group on the subject of stress which went alright. Church was fairly typical, although we tried to cut down on things here and there to keep things moving and interesting. Our youth group did a special music during offering of ‘It Is Well With My Soul’ in parts, and Jon preached a sermon on how the Bible can help us in hard times, which went extremely well. Potluck was amazing. We told the adults the one thing they could do was make sure to bring lots of extra food, which they took quite seriously! (I myself brought a pineapple upside down cake). In the afternoon, we had a general question and answer session, which could have gone a bit better, but overall we’d call it a success. Hopefully we’ll try to do another one before we leave and have a more successful turnout!
