I plan to examine the relationship between the work of health professionals and human rights defenders. Specifically, I aim to do this through a contextualized case study of noncompliance of neglected diseases like leprosy and tuberculosis where patients are using a refusal of treatment as leverage to obtain basic rights such as food and water.
