Our New Adventure-Oak Harbor!

Well, you may or may not have heard, but Jon has a job!  The Washington conference finally wrote us back and made an official job offer, and after a few more days of waiting to hear whether the salary would be manageable, we excitedly accepted!! Jon will be the Youth Pastor/Bible worker at the Oak Harbor SDA Church.  We don't know a lot about the position yet.  I don't have a job yet, my plan is to be at home for about a month and a half with our new dog :) and get unpacked, and then around January after the holidays I'll try to find a good internship with a nonprofit organization in the area to try to start building more experience for myself.

We're very excited to have a job, be back in the beautiful Northwest, and be so close to family!  2 1/2 hours from Jon's parents, 4 1/2 hours from my brother, and 5 1/2 hours from my parents, meaning we will be seeing our family a lot more than we have in the past couple of years!  Oak Harbor seems like it will be a beautiful town to live in.  Here's some basic information about it.  It is located on Whidbey Island, in the Puget Sound, just off the coast of Washington near Seattle.  It's population is 25,000, and the island itself is 58 miles long and 12 miles wide.  It looks very scenic and has lots of hiking, kayaking, and whale watching. Apparently some people said they can even see whales from their house!

Anyway, as you can imagine, ever since we got the offer our minds have been whirling with ideas about houses and cars and dogs and decorating and future vacationing, etc. Well, we've already found a car! Or I should say, my parents found one for us!  We did some looking around online, but my dad was the one who found this amazing deal and quickly snatched it up.  So, as you can see in the picture, it's a 2005 Chrysler Sebring red convertible with only 48,000 miles on it!  We're very excited about it!  We're starting to narrow down the possibilities for houses, and have some dog possibilities picked out as well :) More updates to follow!
