Finally home! We gave ourselves a day to relax and wrap presents before we planned to begin the writing which awaited. However, the next day I had terrible stomach pains and a bit of a temperature and, long story short, ended up in the ER for a series of tests and scans, which all ended rather inconclusively and
anticlimactically. They diagnosed gastrointeritis and the start of an ulcer and started me on some meds which helped. Afterwards we finally were able to start working on our papers, just in time for Christmas Eve! (The dinner of which we shared with our neighbors who we had been house/dog sitting for while they vacationed). After church and lunch we set out to find some Christmas lights. We found some rather strange ones, including a golfing Santa, a giant dinausar, and a covered wagon. We got a bit lost after that wandering in various neighborhoods, but it was a fun night. We also read about 5-10 stories a night to catch up in our Story a Day till Christmas book, watched several movies, and did tons of baking. We made fudge, gingerbread men with character, and pumpkin bread. Then for Christmas day we made wheat rolls and finally found a sugar pumpkin to make pumpkin pie from scratch. We also took advantage of the recent snow fall to make Harold the Snowmann. He was short in stature given the crusty nature of the snow, but made up for it in character. After Christmas we spent some quality shopping time in Bend given our recent gift card aquisitions and generous parents and were able to pick up some fun new clothes to wear back to school, as well as a sturdy new lock for a new bike we would be purchasing.
