Hardcore Hiking

Trying to find Venus...
Last Wednesday was a holiday, Memorial Day, and so Jon's 7:00AM Level 1 class decided it was a prime opportunity for some serious hiking.  We were promised a 4 hour excursion.  However, it ended up being a 7 hour 10K trip, ending with a bit of heatstroke for me.  Lovely.  So much for a day off.

To be fair, it really was beautiful and enjoyable.  Although at times it felt more like bouldering than hiking and was a sufficiently challenging course, my workouts in the weeks before must have helped, since I wasn't sore in the days after the hike.  It was also an interesting hike because about 1/4 of the way up we stopped for a break and had some fruit found only in Korea, halfway through we had lunch on the mountain, a traditional meal of bori bap, on large square tables that we sat on with vegetables grown nearby, and about 3/4 of the way down we took an ice cream break :)  While it was enjoyable, I may think twice before agreeing to go hiking with Koreans again...
