Christmas time in Korea

A couple of weeks ago, our last Saturday together in Suncheon, we decided to throw a small little Christmas party.  After all the churches in the area gave a small choir concert, we all headed to our place, which was decked out for the season.  We all got tacky gifts at the 'dollar store', and had a white elephant gift exchange.  Jon even ended up with a spiffy new neck pillow for our upcoming trip home.  We played Christmas movies and music and had a good time all hanging out together for the last time.

The next week was full of first and lasts for us.  We finished our first term, gave our last tests, taught our last classes, had our first party days with our classes.  We went out to eat with our religion class to a local cafe and with Jon's level 2 class. All of my classes chose to stay in and bring food and chat, we had a great time!  I baked my classes banana bread and chocolate chip cookies, and brought them Dunkin Donuts and chips and salsa, and they all brought juice and tea and coffee cake and cookies.  Some of these students we may see again next term, but many we will not.  It was a crazy last day, with parties and tests for our junior kids and saying goodbys to our fellow teachers who will be permanently leaving Korea.  And that very night we began our journey home!
